FREE Ceramic shot glass workshop!
Tutor: Anna Finlayson
2 hour hand-building class
Join our current emerging ceramicist studio resident Anna Finlayson and make yourself a very special shot glass, or two, (or three!) using slab-building techniques with a variety of decorative additions.
Add to your souvenir shot glass collection, or, gift it to a friend. Anna will guide you through her process, but as long as it’s shot glass size, feel free to experiment. Save a few inspo images on Pinterest or just let your hands decide. There’s no pressure for perfection, in fact, the funnier the shot glass the better the shot!
Perfect for beginners but there's lots of flexibility for more experienced makers.
During her studio residency Anna has been exploring traditional decorative elements of homeware and craft and translating them into contemporary objects for the home. Surprisingly, shot glasses have become her go-to vessel when wanting to test new techniques on a small scale. In turn, they have become an accidental yet accurate representation of her work at MUD so far.
THIS CLASS IS FREE TO ATTEND!
Clay included / all basic tools provided to share
Please note: Firing and glazing of your shot glasses is an optional extra, and is available at a charge of $25.00 per participant.
If you would like your shot glasses to be fired and glazed by MUD following this free public workshop, please select: ‘Ticket plus firing’ from our drop down menu, for the date you’d like to book
Our free ‘Basic ticket’ option does not include the firing and glazing of objects made. You will be most welcome to take your raw, unfired objects home with you on the day (please bring a small box or ice-cream container to make transporting them easy!)
Return time on our class ware for firing is 4 weeks on average
Thank you so much to Auckland City Council and their Creative Communities scheme for making these free public workshops possible
