At MUD, we really value the accessibility of hand-building - you don’t need any fancy tools or equipment to get started - your very best tools are your own two hands. As you progress in your home practice, you’ll find all sorts of common objects come in handy - like standard cutlery, a rolling pin, pebbles or shells.
We’ve included some key hand-building tips to help you have the best experience possible, followed by a step by step guide to creating your own cute hand-made mug. This kit introduces the foundational hand-building skills of pinching, joining, and adding simple handles.
Unlike many other home clay kits, the cost of firing and glazing your finished work is already included here - MUD provides full firing services for all Auckland-based customers. You don’t need to worry about hunting down firing services, or ensuring this clay is okay for a different studio to fire - it’s a package deal baby!
When your finished mug has dried for two weeks or more, simply email us to book in your prepaid firing and glazing services at MUD Studios!
